Gary
Fabiano
For more than 10 years Gary was a resident of New York
City, working as a documentary photojournalist that
has taken him all over the world. He has covered conflicts
from Bosnia to Kosovo, to the Middle East where he photographed
the ongoing conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians.
Most recently he traveled to Haiti to cover the civil
unrest and violence that consumed the country during
the ousting of Jean-Bertrand Aristide.
In 2002 his photographs from the West Bank were awarded
the SPD Award of Merit from the Society of Publication
designers. Gary’s work during the war in Kosovo gained
him recognition, including first place in the 1999 Kodak/PDN
Black and White Photography contest. He also gained
recognition in the 2000 Alfred Eisenstadt Awards where
Gary’s photographs were featured in the special edition
of LIFE magazine, “Best Magazine Photos of the Year”.
During the attacks on the World Trade Center, Gary was
trapped under falling debris when the South Tower collapsed
while he photographed the unfolding chaos. His photographs
from the attack on the World Trade Center have been
included in several exhibitions as well as books including
“Here is New York”. He was also included in the HBO
documentary about the WTC attack.
Gary Fabiano’s photographs have been published in magazines
around the world including, but not limited to: Life,
Newsweek, Time, US News & World Report, Paris Match,
Mother Jones, Le Figaro and the Times Magazine of London.
He is represented by SIPA Press, one of the oldest and
well respected photo agencies in the world, which is
based in Paris and New York.
Gary has moved to Washington, DC from New York to cover
the White House, Capitol Hill and the continuing unrest
in the world.
