Allison Shelley is a staff photographer at the Washington
Times newspaper in Washington D.C., where she has
lived for the past 10 years. Assignments have taken
her from the music scene in Iceland, to science
programs in Antarctica, the HIV-AIDS crisis in Kenya
to the dissident movement in Cuba. She is currently
pursuing a long-term documentary project on obscure
Latin American spritual practices, focusing on
female-based religions.
She has freelanced for clients such as Rolling Stone,
Teen Newsweek, The Washington Post, The American Red
Cross and Amnesty International. Recent accolades for
her photography and photo editing skills have come
from the White House News Photographers Association,
National Press Photographers Association and Society
for News Design.
